The QuickZyme Total Collagen Assay Kit enables quantitative collagen analysis in all types of tissues, in a fast and simple 96-well plate format. This assay is based on the quantitative colorimetric determination of hydroxyproline residues, obtained by acid hydrolysis of collagen. This assay does not need the drying step following acid hydrolysis of collagen for which often special equipment is needed. This assay is the only hydroxyproline-based assay that does not need this laborious step, resulting in a fast, sensitive, and easy assay. Application: conditioned media cells, cell extracts, tissues, tissue extracts. Sensitivity: 2.5 µg/ml. Assay-time: < 2 hours. Collagen is one of the main components of extracellular matrix. Dysregulation in collagen production results in pathologies such as fibrosis (too much collagen), or osteoarthritis (too little collagen). Thus measurement of collagen production is important in many disease related studies.
